Job Introduction
The Hyundai Tate Research Centre: Transnational transforms how Tate develops and shares art-historical knowledge around the world. Its research contributes to exhibitions, displays, acquisitions and events across Tate’s four galleries, as well as through a wide network of local and international collaborators.
As Senior Curator, International Art, you will work closely with Tate’s vision and mission and its curatorial teams to set the Centre’s strategy and conceive and deliver a visionary, innovative programme that challenges dominant art histories and explores global exchanges and the circulation of artists and ideas. You will ensure that the programme aligns with and complements Tate’s wider strategies, while strengthening its contribution to the museum’s national and international priorities and activities.
You will also research, develop and curate exhibitions, collection displays, events and publications, while leading the Centre’s programme, partnerships, budgets and schedules. Working across Tate and with artists, museums, scholars, funders and other collaborators, you will strengthen the Centre’s national and international profile. As a senior manager at Tate Modern, you will provide strategic leadership to the Curatorial team and line-manage and mentor curatorial colleagues.
You will bring expert knowledge of modern and contemporary art, with a particular focus on transnational discourse, alongside a significant record of research and publication. You will have substantial museum or gallery experience, including leading ambitious exhibitions, displays, symposia or conferences and managing budgets. An inclusive leadership style, excellent research, writing, communication and negotiation skills, and a strong commitment to equality, cultural diversity, broad audiences and Tate’s work are essential.
Our jobs are like our galleries, open to all.
