The aim of Tate is to increase public awareness, understanding and appreciation of British art from the 16th century to the present day, and of international modern and contemporary art.
The Curatorial Department, Tate Modern is responsible for the delivery of exhibitions, collection displays, live events and film programmes, ensuring the highest standard of content and delivery of this programme. It is also responsible for building the modern international aspect of Tate’s collections.
The installation team within the Curatorial Department provide technical expertise to individual exhibition and collection display-based projects. Leading a team of art handling technicians as well as participating in the handling, installation, packing, movement and storage of artworks on site.
You will have proven experience of providing technical solutions to installation problems and have demonstrable experience of advising management on risks and achievable schedules. You will be excellent at providing sound and first-class advice on the specifications for equipment and be responsible for the care, maintenance and storage of art handling equipment and materials.
You will have a high level of expertise in the handling, installation and care of a variety of complex artworks. You will need to be able to lead and motivate a team and have excellent interpersonal, diplomatic and communication skills. The role also requires you to have the ability to work confidently and accurately under pressure as well as the ability and willingness to work outside of core hours to realise projects.
